Harsh

Our traditional media is hardly squeamish. They talk about all manner of deplorable acts from child rape to crystal meth whores to serial killers. Why then can’t they call torture what it is, instead opting to call it “harsh interrogation techniques” every single time they bring it up? Why are they “detainees” and not prisoners?

It it just a lazy habit of repeating Pentagon press releases? Do they feel guilt at being somehow complicit in international crimes and are emotionally unable to admit the true horror of the acts? Or do they just want to cover up government corruption as best they can for the sake of it?
