Inmate Count in U.S. Dwarfs Other Nations’
The New York Times has a piece on our staggeringly high prison population. They tell us exactly why we have a twentieth of the world’s population but a quarter of its prisoners: Democracy.
Yes, thanks New York Times. I’m sure Bill Kristol loves this column. The answer to all our problems is less democracy. Feudalism is clearly the solution. Why didn’t I think of it?!
There’s no analysis of how democracy entails a proper education for the population, such that they can make good decisions and correctly interpret the propaganda created by the ruling class, or about how our educational system in the U.S. is a shameful failure, or an analysis of how a mercantilistic two-party representational republic which is always making war differs from a democracy. Nope. Democracy is the problem. It’s just that simple.
For only when the people freely abdicate their rule can the people be free and will they totally rule. Yeah. That’s the ticket.
What does it mean when the leading newspaper in a country consistently expresses open disdain for democracy?
