Good News For My Dollar

In early voting in Texas, voter turnout is up by an order of magnitude. I don’t think they’re turning out in droves to vote for the virtual-incumbent. Ouch.

It’s easy to look back on a failed strategy and then say how obvious it is that it was bound to fail, but really, what was Hillary thinking by opposing Obama’s changey, hopey narrative? Obama campaigned on hope. And Hillary, in order to oppose him, made her campaign’s message, “Don’t get your hopes up.”

If she really wanted to beat him, she should have tried to out-hope him. But, that’s some Thursday afternoon quarterbacking for you. It’s easy to say stuff like this now.

Of course, what really hurt her is that she utterly failed to campaign in most of the states. She just didn’t have a post Super Tuesday plan. She assumed it would be a blowout in her favor, and simply didn’t have a campaign structure set up for the long haul. Obama did.
